ceremonial chair

If there was one singular archaeological event that captured the
imagination of the public, it was the discovery of the tomb of that
very weird boy king, Tutankhamun. I mean, what was that kid up to,
anyway? But all of the details of his life are largely irrelevant to
us. What we are concerned with is his seating arrangements. Did he
like the soft, plush luxury of thick, woven fabric between the hard
seat and himself? Or did he suspect that the pleasure of ruling from
the throne would eventually make him complacent and negligent in his
monarchal duties?
Detail of the back of his royal chair gives us a tiny glimpse
into the wonderful artistry of the ancient Egyptians. Wouldn't you
love to own a chair like that? I know I would.
